The champion of the 57th Continental Croatia Wine Exhibition in Sveti Ivan Zelina is the 2018 Chardonnay Ice Wine from the Bodren winery in Hum na Sutli. This comes as no surprise, given Boris Drenški’s reputation for producing excellent predicate wines, but this time his Ice Chardonnay achieved a perfect score of 100 points. Naturally, it took first place in the predicate wine category, and the exhibition's second-highest-rated wine was also his: Triptih 2020, a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Traminer, which was awarded 96 points.

Although a perfect Chardonnay is from the 2018 vintage, it was harvested in early January 2019. That was when the temperature dropped to minus seven degrees, the level required for an ice wine harvest.
